The European Territorial Cooperation Program of Atlantic Area (2014-2020) is another step in the long tradition of cooperation that Spain, France, Portugal, Ireland and the United Kingdom keep between each other. The Program ERDF aid for the entire programming period amounts to a total of 140,013,194 Eurosp.
It should be pointed out that the Program 2014-2020 will cover the larger space than previous Operational Program (OP) as a result of the inclusion of new regions: the Canary Islands (Spain), the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira (Portugal).
The program strategy is structured around four Priority Bases that tackle four thematic objectives defined in the thematic menu of Article 9 of the Regulation:
• Priority Basis 1: Promoting the innovation and competitiveness (Thematic Objective 1).
• Priority Basis 2: Promoting the resource efficiency (Thematic Objective 4 and Thematic Objective 6).
• Priority Basis 3: Strengthening the risk management systems (Thematic Objective 5).
• Priority Basis 4: Evaluating the biodiversity and natural and cultural assets (Thematic Objective 6).
