Spain – Portugal

The Cooperation Program INTERREG V A Spain – Portugal (POCTEP) 2014-2020 was approved by the Commission Decision C (2015) 893 of February 12, 2015. Including the national funding, the total budget of the program amounts to nearly 383 million Euros

The first call for cross-border projects will be launched in 2015. The projects may receive up to 65% of EU funding for their activities.

The program INTERREG V-A Spain – Portugal (POCTEP) 2014-2020 is the direct result of favourable experience which since 1989 has involved the cooperation on the border between the two countries, and has allowed and expects to continue improving the quality of life of the Cooperation Area inhabitants.

The Spain-Portugal Border Zone consists of 37 NUTS III which belong to both countries, ensuring the consistency and continuity of the zones established in the previous programming period.

The 2014-2020 POCTEP will act in five main areas, or thematic objectives:

·        Strengthening investigation, technological development and innovation.

·        Improving the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises.

.        Promoting the adaptation to climate change in all sectors.

·        Protecting the environment and promoting the resource efficiency.

·        Improving the institutional capacity and efficiency of public administration.
