RegioStars are annual awards to reward innovative projects in the context of regional development and is part of the communication efforts that the Commission proposed in Communication (2006) 675 “the regions, leading characters in economic change
The Communication stated that annual awards were to be created for the best projects in areas linked to the modernisation of the economy. These awards are an attempt to encourage “good practices”, to stimulate the exchange of experiences and to make projects which are considered attractive and which may inspire other regions more visible.
In particular, annual awards will be proposed for European Fund communication.
